The food in Taiwan is basically Chinese-style, but with a growing foreign (and not entirely Western) influence. In the Alishan area, you will also find some local specialities.
For Westerners, the bleakest news is breakfast, though it doesn\'t necessarily have to be that way. In fact, you can indeed find excellent breakfasts being served up in numerous restaurants -- the big problem is that in a remote hotel, you have to eat whatever is on offer, which in many cases is the \"traditional Chinese breakfast.\" The traditional Chinese breakfast usually is based on \"watery rice\" . |
